XOCHIMILCO
How to get there :

It is 30 km. from the Main Square (Zócalo). By car, go straight on Calzada de Tlalpan south direction, at Huipulco turn left in Calzada Mexico-Xochimilco and follow Xochimilco´s signpostings.
By subway (Metro) or bus, take any station at Calzada de Tlalpan to Xochimilco direction. Timing: 1hr.

Tips :

We suggest a moolight ride boarding a "trajinera" (square wooden boat) especially on October, when the moon looks splendorous.
If visiting by day, do not forget sun block and mosquitoes repellant; wrap yourself up by night.

Xochimilco
Xochimilco

Xochimilco has been declared a cultural heritage due to its exceptional natural characteristics. You can enjoy the traditional world's image of Xochimilco visiting the "chinampas" (floating agricultural fields) notable for its horticulture, mainly flowers and vegetables. They were constructed on the last lagoon and there are more than 200 km. of sailing channels, of which about 14 km. can be visited by tourists.

You can choose from two very enjoyable routes: a long and ecological one or the traditional shorter route.

Enjoy a relaxing ride, full of colors, scents and music by boarding a "trajinera" from the Nativitas pier, which has many boats waiting to wend their way through the canals in order to visit the famous "chinampas" (floating agricultural fields) and the fantastic "Isla de las Muñecas" (Dolls Island).

If you visit Xochimilco towards the end of October and November, during the Day of the Dead, we recommend you to go to Cuemanco pier where you can see a performance representing Mexico´s most ancient legend: The legend of the "Llorona" (weeping woman) on a small island on the Tlilac Lagoon, reachable by "trajinera". Price: $150 per person. Information: Ph. 5603-8540
